1. For every credit card, debit card that you have use a
3 x 5 card to include the information that you will need. The reason for the
card is as the information for a card changes, you will need to update your
card for that account. Keep this in a locked, secured place. You may keep a
list on the computer if you wish, but you need to keep in mind that if the
theft happens in your home, it is just as likely that they may take your
computer. This would especially be true in the case of a laptop.

2. Write down the credit card number, experation date, the 3 digit code
on the back, the pin number if you have it with the information of who to
contact, what their procedure is in the event of a loss or theft.

3. Include a card with your drivers license, social security number (if
you don't know what yours is)especially if this number is on your drivers
licence.

4. KEEP THE INFORMATION UPDATED AND CURRENT!

5. Also include the information of the three credit bureaus. You will
need to contact them as well. They can help with stopping new account from
being opened.

6. Find out what your insurance policy on your home or apartment will or
will not cover in the event of this happening. You need to know before hand,
so you can be prepared. You need to make a police report as soon as you
discover the loss or theft.

7. Being prepared with the information that you need and the steps to
take will make this process easier for you if there should ever be a loss.

At the time of a loss!

1. Call the police and file a report.

2. Call you insurance company with loss information. (This step would
only be taken if there is coverage under you policy. This is step six in the
do now list)

3. Call all credit card companies.

4. Call your banking companies.

5. Social Security Administration (fraud line): 1-800-269-0271

6. Call the three national credit reporting organizations immediately to
place a fraud alert on your name and your Social Security number. That means
any company that checks your credit knows your information was stolen, and
they have to contact you by phone to authorize new credit.
Equifax:1-800-525-6285 Experian (formerly TRW): 1-888-397-3742 Trans Union:
